Human Energy - In Abundance. Frontiers of Efficiency

"Using a range of ideas and solutions from personnel throughout the Singapore Refinery, along with some very powerful analytical tools, we are working to achieve significant reductions in our energy use — and without compromising the refinery's ability to produce product in a profitable way."

At Chevron, we believe that conservation is the least expensive form of new energy there is. It saves valuable resources, protects the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and it lowers energy costs.

We also believe that conservation begins at home. For example, a team at our joint-venture Singapore Refinery is developing plans that are expected to reduce refinery energy consumption — without affecting output. To lower energy use, the team is evaluating on-site cogeneration alternatives as well as combining energy-use analysis with changes in operation and maintenance.

These conservation efforts are expected to reduce refinery energy costs by as much as $10 million a year over the next six to seven years.
