Joe W. Laymon
Vice President, Human Resources, Medical and Security
Joe Laymon is vice president of Human Resources, Medical and Security for Chevron Corporation. He oversees Chevron's global human resources, medical services and security functions.
Laymon was born in Mississippi in 1952. He earned a bachelor's degree from Jackson State University in 1975 and a master's degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1977.
Laymon came to Chevron in 2008 from Ford Motor Company, where he served as group vice president of Corporate Human Resources and Labor Affairs. Prior to joining Ford in 2000, Laymon worked for the United States Agency for International Development with assignments in Zaire and Washington, D.C.
Laymon began his career at Xerox Corporation in 1979 and went on to hold a number of senior human resources and labor positions over 17 years, including chief labor negotiator. Laymon then joined the Eastman Kodak Company, where he held several senior human resources positions, including vice president of Human Resources for U.S. and International Operations.
Laymon is a member of the Human Resources Network in the Petroleum Industry and the HR Policy Association. He also is on the board of directors of Molex, Inc., the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation, BoardRoomIQ.com, and the United Way of the Bay Area. He also is on the board of trustees of Clark Atlanta University and is a national trustee of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
He has three children.
