    Vice President, Human Resources, Medical and Security

    Joe W. Laymon is vice president of Human Resources, Medical and Security for Chevron Corporation, a position he has held since 2008. He is responsible for Chevron's global human resources, medical services and security functions.

    Previously Laymon served as group vice president of Corporate Human Resources and Labor Affairs for Ford Motor Company from 2000 to 2008 and was responsible for global human resources, labor negotiations, medical, security and aviation.

    Prior to joining Ford, Laymon worked for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with assignments in Zaire and Washington, D.C. Previous to USAID he held several senior human resources positions at Eastman Kodak Company, including vice president of Human Resources for U.S. and International Operations.

    Laymon is on the board of directors of Molex, Inc.; BoardRoomIQ.com; and the United Way of the Bay Area. He also is on the board of trustees of Clark Atlanta University and is a national trustee of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Laymon is a member of the Human Resources Network in the Petroleum Industry and the HR Policy Association.

    Laymon was born in Mississippi in 1952. He began his career at Xerox Corporation in 1979 as an industrial relations specialist and went on to hold a number of senior human resources and labor positions over 17 years, including chief labor negotiator. In 1975, he earned a bachelor's degree from Jackson State University and in 1977 a master's degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
