C.N. "Sandy" Macfarlane
General Tax Counsel
C.N. "Sandy" Macfarlane is general tax counsel of Chevron Corporation, a position he assumed in December 2010. In this position, Macfarlane directs Chevron's worldwide tax activities.
Since joining Chevron in 1986, Macfarlane has worked in a succession of positions within the Tax Department, including coordinator of tax audits and litigation, managing tax attorney, manager of tax compliance and, most recently, assistant general tax counsel.
Macfarlane was born in 1954. He received a bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1976, a law degree from Boston College in 1979 and a master's degree in tax law from Boston University in 1985.
Macfarlane serves on the American Petroleum Institute's Tax Committee. He is a regional vice president and member of the Executive Committee of Tax Executives Institute. He also is a member of the American Bar Association.
