    C.A. (Chuck) Taylor

    Vice President, Strategic Planning

    C.A. (Chuck) Taylor is vice president of Strategic Planning for Chevron Corporation, a position he assumed in March 2011. He is responsible for advising senior corporate executives in setting strategic direction for the company, allocating capital and other resources, and determining operating unit performance measures and targets.

    Previously, Taylor was vice president of Health, Environment and Safety. In this role, he was responsible for defining and instituting a systematic means for managing health, environment, safety, reliability and efficiency performance. He also was responsible for Chevron’s Environmental Management Company.

    Taylor was born in 1957 in Muncie, Ind. He graduated from Purdue University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. In 1992, he earned a master's degree in business administration from Tulane University in Louisiana. He was awarded the Allen R. Vorholt Award for academic and business leadership and was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma scholastic honor society in 1992.

    Since joining the company in 1980 as a drilling engineer, Taylor has held numerous domestic and international engineering and management positions in the upstream sector for Chevron in Indonesia, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States.

    Between 1996 and 1999, he was the manager of asset development and area operations manager of the Bekasap strategic business unit of Caltex Pacific, Indonesia, in Duri, Sumatra, Indonesia.

    From 1999 until 2003, Taylor was general manager of Chevron United Kingdom. Based in Aberdeen, Scotland, he was responsible for exploration and production business activities in the United Kingdom. He served as Chevron's representative to the board of directors of the United Kingdom Offshore Operators Association and Oil Spill Response Ltd. Taylor also represented Chevron in the oil and gas sector's Step Change Initiative to improve safety in Great Britain.

    From 2003 to 2007, Taylor was general manager of the joint venture between Chevron Nigeria Ltd. and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company in Nigeria. There he was responsible for exploration and production business activities. He also served as Chevron's representative on the executive committee of the Offshore Producers Trade Section, the primary upstream industry association in Nigeria.

    Taylor currently serves on the board of directors for the Special Olympics of Northern California.
