Fabricated in eight countries, including Angola, production facilities for the Tombua-Landana development are now being assembled offshore, an approach that is expected to save time and money. Located in Angola's deep water, Tombua-Landana is expected to come onstream in 2009 and reach a peak production rate of approximately 100,000 barrels per day of crude oil in 2011. Instead of flaring, associated natural gas will be processed and stored for a liquefied natural gas project the company has under way in Angola. Reduced flaring not only is an environmentally sound practice, but also an excellent way for the country to commercialize its large natural gas resources.
