Highlights of Operations

Chevron is ranked among Angola's top petroleum producers. We continue to move forward, investing billions of dollars in major energy projects intended to dramatically increase oil production and conserve natural gas for use in Angola.

Among the most important of these are the offshore Benguela Belize–Lobito Tomboco and the $3.8 billion Tombua-Landana projects. Also in 2008, construction began on a 5.2 million-metric-ton-per-year liquefied natural gas plant.

Chevron has interests in four concessions in Angola, two of which we operate.

We are Angola's largest foreign oil-industry employer. We employ approximately 2,900 Angolans – that's 86 percent of our workforce in the country. In addition, Angolans fill 73 percent of Chevron's local professional and supervisory roles.

Our commitment to the people of Angola is advanced by Chevron's Angola Partnership Initiative, which promotes peace, improved health and better educational opportunities in the communities where we work.
