Chevron Argentina S.R.L. works in partnership with local leaders, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and other entities to help build strong communities in areas where it works. The company supports housing, health, economic development, education and environmental programs.
In Neuquén Province, Chevron Argentina employees who work at the El Trapial Field helped build 24 houses for families living in extreme poverty. The project, developed in partnership with the NGO Un Techo Para Mi País, is part of an effort to teach people living in urban slums the skills necessary to own their own homes.
Together with the Ministry of Health, Chevron Argentina sponsors Rolling Smiles, a program that sends a mobile dental clinic around Neuquén Province to offer dental care to the community.
In partnership with the Río Negro, Neuquén and La Pampa Oil and Gas Union, the company developed a program to promote healthy habits and prevent addiction in Rincón de los Sauces, a community near the El Trapial Field. The program consists of educational and cultural activities.
In the city of General Roca, in Rio Negro Province, an initiative was launched that offers free workshops to improve job skills and promote small businesses. The project aims to support local economic growth and generate employment opportunities.
Chevron Argentina is also one of the main supporters of the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires, where it has developed a scholarship program to sponsor petroleum engineering students.
The commitment to the environment extends beyond oil fields. Chevron Argentina worked with a technical organization from the Neuquén provincial government to conduct a forestation plan near the Andes Mountains, where we have our main operations. About 12,355 acres (50 sq km) of trees were planted, an estimated investment of $5 million.
