Record of Achievement

Belgium is one of the first countries other than the United States where our products were marketed. In 1905, Texaco – which later merged with Chevron – sold kerosene and gas oil for light lamps. We expanded our product line in Belgium after World War II when we began selling fuel under our Caltex brand name.

In 1968, we opened our first lubes blending plant, and in 2001, we purchased the blending facility in Ghent.

Texaco formed the joint venture Arteco in 1998 to produce and market cooling and heat transfer fluids.

In 2007, Chevron sold its Benelux fuel marketing operations. These included 803 Texaco-branded service stations; two fuel terminals in Belgium and Luxembourg; interests in six joint-venture retailers in the Netherlands; and other related assets.

Health, Environment and Safety

Maintaining the highest safety standards is vital to Chevron. The Ghent blending facility complies with Belgian regulations and Chevron's safety requirements.

Our commitment to safety at the research facility continues. In 2008, we achieved eight years of operation without a day-away-from-work incident.

Chevron also develops fuels and lubricants that meet the increasingly stringent European environmental standards.
