Highlights of Operations
Chevron's relationship with Brazil ranges from deepwater projects in the Atlantic Ocean to more than 1,900 service stations across the country.
It all started in 1915 when the company began selling petroleum products in Brazil under its Texaco brand name. In less than a month, Texaco opened its first branch in Recife and grew its Star brand all over the country. Now the company has an extensive network of service stations and distribution systems while also operating plants that produce industrial and automotive lubricants and greases.
Today, Chevron has expanded its business operations to include oil and natural gas exploration in the Campos and Santos offshore basins. Among them is the company-operated Frade Field project, one of Chevron's major development investments, where construction is in full swing. First oil is expected in 2009.
