Chevron's involvement in the Chad-Cameroon project demonstrates the company's commitment to fostering economic and social development in sub-Saharan Africa. As the pipeline project developed, Chevron worked with the World Bank and nongovernmental organizations that were key supporters of the project.
The project provides jobs, local business opportunities and other benefits for the people of Chad and the greater region. Chadian employees make up 88 percent of the project's workforce. The project employs more than 5,800 workers in Chad and more than 1,200 in Cameroon. Total capital and operating project expenditures in 2012 were approximately $850 million.
