Record of Achievement

| More

In 1937, Caltex began business operations in what was then known as Malaya, marketing lubricants from its office in Singapore. Caltex Oil (Malaya) Ltd. was incorporated in 1959 and assumed responsibility for the marketing of a wide range of petroleum products. In 1965, the company name was changed to Caltex Oil Malaysia Limited, reflecting the name of the young nation.

After Chevron and Texaco merged in 2001, Caltex Oil Malaysia Limited changed its name to Chevron Malaysia Limited in 2006.

Chevron relaunched its patented Caltex with Techron® products in 2006. Techron is an additive that works like a detergent to remove and prevent fuel deposits in engines. In 2009, we made Premium 95 with Techron available at all of our service stations in Malaysia.

Also in 2009, we introduced Caltex Diesel with Techron D®, an advanced, multifunctional diesel additive that is exclusive to Caltex. In November 2011, we introduced Caltex Diesel (Bio) with Techron D, a biodiesel fuel blend with 5 percent palm methyl esters, a compound made from palm oil.

Operational Excellence: Safety, Health, Environment, Reliability and Efficiency

Wherever Chevron works, we are committed to using our Operational Excellence Management System to meet the highest health, environment and safety standards.

Since 2007, Chevron Malaysia has rolled out a number of important work processes designed to improve the safety of our operations. The processes teach safe work practices and promote contractor health, environmental protection and safety. One example is the annual Contractor Health, Environment and Safety Management Forum, where our partnering contractors share their best practices for cultivating a safety culture in their organizations.

In 2009, in addition to our day-to-day operations, we finished two tank construction projects in the Pasir Gudang and Prai terminals. We also completed the removal and replacement of underground storage tanks at some of our retail sites. All were completed on time, without any reportable incidents or injuries.

Emergency Management

To prepare for emergencies, Chevron facilities are equipped with emergency response and business continuity plans and other procedures designed to ensure prompt recovery of business operations.

Training, routine drills and tabletop exercises presented by internal and external safety experts prepare our employees, contractors and emergency response and crisis management teams for a wide range of incident scenarios.

Chevron Malaysia Limited is a member of two oil spill response groups: Petroleum Industries of Malaysia Mutual Aid Group (PIMMAG) and Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL).

In 2008, Chevron Malaysia, working with PIMMAG, OSRL and Chevron Singapore, responded to the grounding of another company's tanker off the western Johor coast. Chevron Malaysia conducted shoreline surveys and manned the Emergency Response room. The situation was resolved with no environmental damage.

Awards and Recognition

Caltex won Bronze in the automotive fuels category at the Putra Brand Awards 2011, a poll of 6,000 consumers that ranked brand strength in 20 categories.
