Exploration and Production
Chevron operates and has interests ranging from 34.1 percent to 80 percent in 10 Dutch offshore blocks. A block is usually split up into two or more licenses.
Five blocks, in which Chevron has a unitized interest of 34.1 percent, make up the A/B Gas Project. Chevron also has interests ranging from 46.7 to 80 percent in three blocks that contain producing fields. In September 2010, Chevron acquired a 60 percent interest in the P/1 and P/2 exploration blocks.
In 2010, total average daily production was 3,000 barrels of crude oil (2,000 net) and 97 million cubic feet of natural gas (35 million net).
The second stage of the A/B Gas Project—the B13 satellite development—is under construction. Pipeline was laid in December 2010, and installation of an unmanned platform is planned for the second quarter of 2011. Drilling of four wells is scheduled for the third quarter of 2011. Production is expected to begin in 2012.
The recently acquired P/1 and P/2 blocks contain several natural gas discoveries. In late 2011, Chevron plans to drill the first well in the P/2 block since its acquisition.
