Chevron began doing business in Romania in 1999 when we started selling Texaco® lubricants.
In 2010, our upstream operations began working in Romania, obtaining concessions for natural gas from shale formations in the southeast of the country. We won concessions for Blocks 17, 18 and 19, which cover about 670,000 acres (2,700 sq km).
We added significant acreage in 2011 with the purchase of the 1.6 million-acre (6,350-sq-km) EV-2 Barlad shale gas concession in northeast Romania.
