Highlights of Operations

Chevron is a leading refiner and marketer of petroleum products in South Africa and maintains a network of approximately 950 Caltex-branded service stations, making it one of the country's top four petroleum brands. Chevron's share in the Milnerton, Cape Town, refinery is 110,000 barrels per day. A consortium of Black Economic Empowerment business partners and employees also holds stock in the refinery. Chevron also has interests in a lube oil manufacturing plant in Durban.

Cape Town is one of the company's three global hubs for the supply and trading organization that manages Chevron's global supply chain in such a manner as to maximize its equity crude oil revenues and reduce the cost of raw materials and transportation.

Chevron has played an important part in meeting South Africa's fuel needs since 1911, forming the Caltex brand in 1936 from a partnership of Chevron and Texaco's original downstream business. In 1966, Caltex bolstered its standing as a key South Africa investor with the construction of a refinery, which it still operates, in Milnerton, Cape Town.
