The Importance of Safety

Protecting the health and safety of our employees and all those who work on our behalf is our highest priority at Oronite. We continue to reduce our incidents and injuries through an intense focus on improving health and safety performance. Any incidents are thoroughly investigated to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Oronite uses what we call our Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) approach to establish strategic direction, assess progress toward our goals, ensure operational excellence and measure and evaluate employee performance.

We're very clear about our expectations — No one gets hurt... ever!

Success depends on effective, engaged, committed and knowledgeable leaders — and a strong safety culture. We learned the importance of our leaders in 2004 when we undertook a study to identify workplace factors that led to excellence in safety performance. We found that the units with significantly better safety performance were those that gave higher ratings to their leaders.

Our leaders know they're accountable for visible leadership engagement and commitment — seeking to continually improve their personal and their organization's capabilities to achieve world-class performance. We work daily to build a culture through workforce engagement.

We also have a strong focus on Process Safety Management. Periodic risk assessments and process hazards analyses continue to drive global projects focused on continuously improving our process safety performance.
