Oronite chemists have developed and synthesized new concepts for lower friction across all lubrication regimes. We were among the first to dedicate funding for the new Sequence VID test and are an active consortium participant in the drive toward a new industry standard test for fuel economy for today's and future engines.
For decades, Oronite has answered the call when it comes to meeting the demands for engine lubricants that deliver better fuel economy. From the 1970's through today, we have been conducting on-going, systematical research and development on ways to improve fuel economy. As a result, Oronite has consistently delivered the technology needed to make engine oils that provide improved fuel efficiency.
Auto manufacturers continuously look for different ways to make sure cars and their components offer increasingly superior fuel economy. One avenue, of course, was to take a look at engine oils. With the advent of GF-3 in the 1990's, a more stringent fuel economy test - the Sequence VIB was designed by industry to measure fuel economy throughout the oil's life. Oronite met the challenge and delivered formulations providing leading fuel economy retention.
With the introduction of GF-4, the limits to the Sequence VIB test were pushed even further. Taking our usual head-on approach we met this new Sequence VIB challenge. We developed new methods to measure friction modifier performance and conducted extensive blend and engine modeling studies to identify the optimum combination of additives, base oils, and PARATONE® VII , spawning new additive technology that resulted in even better fuel economy durability under the demands of oil aging.
Oronite continues to take a systematic approach to optimize all the elements of the additive package to provide for better fuel economy for both passenger cars and heavy duty trucks. For example, we installed and studied the new Volvo D12D fuel economy test for heavy duty engine oils; we are active participants in the development of the M111FE and Ford Duratorq fuel economy tests in Europe, and we have proprietary fuel economy test capability in our labs in Japan.
Oronite chemists have developed and synthesized new concepts for lower friction across all lubrication regimes. We were among the first to dedicate funding for the new Sequence VID test and are an active consortium participant in the drive toward a new industry standard test for fuel economy for today's and future engines. We also continue studies on the impact of blend viscosity and PARATONE® on fuel economy, and scope new formulating approaches to improve fuel economy using bench and engine screener tests.
When it comes to fuel economy we will continue to have: a highly effective unique dispersant and industry-leading FM technology; new test methods to meaningfully evaluate formulation impacts on fuel economy; and work with our customers to deliver fuel efficient engine oils to the end-user.
