OEMs are looking for improved fuel economy performance, robust low temperature capability and longer drain intervals. Oronite has current Viscosity Index Improver products and developments underway to keep PARATONE® at the cutting edge of VII technology.
The viscosity of a lubricant is influenced by changes in its temperature. An oil's Viscosity Index provides an indication of its potential for application over a wide temperature range. Viscosity Index Improvers (VIIs), also known as Viscosity Modifiers, comprise a class of additives that improve the viscosity-temperature characteristics of the lubricant, making the oil's viscosity more stable as its temperature changes. VIIs are widely used in the lubricant field although engine oils represent their largest application. They are used to formulate multigrade oils such as SAE 15W-40 and 5W-30.
Oronite offers the PARATONE family of VIIs which has been a recognized industry leader since the 1930s. The PARATONE product line has several major innovations to its credit including the development of the first Olefin Copolymer VII. Our polymer technology products provide the following benefits:
PARATONE® VII combine excellent viscometric effectiveness with high oxidative stability. Oronite's PARATONE chemistry provides the attributes and flexibility needed to formulate oils to today's high quality standards, and stringent industry performance requirements.
