Introduction To Chevron's Paraffinic Process OilsChevron paraffinic process oils have excellent compatibility with rubber polymers requiring paraffinic oils. They are highly recommended for applications where discoloration, staining, or sludging must be minimized. Our paraffinic oils deliver value through their exceptional oxidation, excellent initial color, and lack of discoloration after UV and/or heat exposure. Compared to other process oils, their lower volatility for a given viscosity grade results in lower weight loss and fewer emissions. The lower volatility of Chevron’s paraffinic process oils greatly reduces fogging and enhances flexibility retention. For all of these reasons, many of our process oils are routinely substituted for white oils in non-food grade applications when Part A or Part B are not required, at a far lower cost. Chevron paraffinic process oils are commonly used as processing aids or extender oils in rubber compounding. They reduce the amount of time required for mixing, minimize the amount of heat generated, and maximize the dispersion of components. In addition, they extend product volume and reduce total product cost, while maintaining the physical properties of the rubber compound. Chevron paraffinic process oils are used in a wide variety of other applications: Listed below are examples of both rubber and nonrubber applications:
