Natural gas from shale is a game changer for America's energy supply. Many states are fortunate to be sitting on vast quantities of this resource, and developing it will bring those states—and the country as a whole—jobs, economic development and cleaner energy.

But those benefits come only if companies produce the natural gas safely and responsibly. Chevron understands that. We are committed to operating responsibly for the long term and to investing in the communities where we live and work.

I live and work in Pennsylvania, where we are drilling for natural gas from shale. As we produce energy from this abundant source, we work every day to keep the water, air and land safe for this generation and future generations to come.
