Australia is an important supplier of energy. We are blessed with an abundance of natural gas which can provide energy to customers both in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
Renewable energy also will play a part. But technological breakthroughs are needed to develop and deploy renewable energy at a significant scale.
It took more than 100 years to build the energy system that powers the global economy. The scale of the world's energy needs is far beyond the capacity of any one source or technology. Oil and natural gas will be the largest part of the energy mix for decades to come.
The world will need all the energy we can produce, in every form.
