Through projects like Big Foot, Chevron provides energy for the world. It also partners with local nonprofit civic and charitable organizations to fuel the social and economic vitality of the communities where it operates. Along the U.S. Gulf Coast, one of those organizations is Rebuilding Together.

Rebuilding Together is the United States’ leading nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize communities. Since 1988, Rebuilding Together New Orleans (RTNO) has been rehabilitating and repairing homes for low-income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, disabled, veterans or single heads of household with children.

After Hurricane Katrina struck the U.S. Gulf Coast in 2005, thousands were displaced, and many are still struggling to return home to this day. Chevron, in partnership with Rebuilding Together, is continuing to help those impacted by the storm.

Chevron talks a lot about “human energy,” the understanding that people are its most valuable resource. Chevron promotes volunteerism by giving its workforce the time and resources to lend a hand to causes like Rebuilding Together New Orleans. 

Every year, Chevron employees join the RTNO October Build, an event where hundreds of volunteers come together to restore homes in the New Orleans area. More than 70 Chevron volunteers refurbished the Gentilly neighborhood home of 95-year-old WWII veteran Percy Payne. “Chevron volunteers were very kind-hearted,” said Payne. “They were the best people in every respect. They were nice. They were well-mannered. They worked hard. I’m very grateful for their efforts and for the improvements they made to my house.”

Chevron contributes to the communities where it operates because it believes that business success is deeply linked to society’s progress. Everywhere Chevron operates, it strives to build lasting partnerships that help create prosperity – now and for generations to come.
