Chevron Press Release - Chevron Provides Financial Assistance To American Red Cross For Flood Victims
Company makes $130,000 donation, offers assistance to credit card holders,
and help line for owners of water-damaged vehicles
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 13, 1997 - Chevron Corporation today announced it will donate $130,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Fund to aid victims of recent floods in California, Washington, Oregon and Nevada. The majority of funding will be designated for Northern and Central California, where thousands are still homeless caused by severe weather and the state's biggest flood in decades.
"Disasters such as these simultaneously damage property and upset lives," said Ken Derr, Chevron's chairman, "It's a Chevron tradition to help victims of these disasters and we want to do what we can to help those affected."
In addition, credit card statements to Chevron's customers will include information for them to write or call customer service representatives for assistance.
Last week, Chevron also announced that its technical experts are available through a toll-free number to answer any questions related to the immediate repair and cleaning necessary for water-damaged vehicles. General tips and guidelines covering repair of engine, fuel, transmission, brake and electrical systems are available on Chevron's Web site (www.chevron.com) or by calling 1-800-LUBETEK (1-800-582-3835).
