Statement in Response to Chevron's Participation on Vice President Cheneys Energy Task Force

SAN RAMON, Calif., Nov. 16, 2005 -- Chevron did not participate on Vice President Cheney's energy task force, and the company did not attend energy task force meetings. But, as a matter of course, Chevron's Washington office has had ongoing discussions with officials in the Administration and the Congress on U.S. energy policy. On February 5, 2001, we sent a letter to President Bush, which we widely shared with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle, senior Administration officials, and other energy stakeholders inside Washington. That letter contained our recommendations on U.S. energy policy, many of which we reinforced in our oral and written statement before Congress last week, as well as many other public forums.

Read the letter from Chairman and CEO, David O'Reilly, to Chairman Domenici and Senator Bingaman.
