Texaco Press Release - Christopher R. Gidez Named General Manager of Public Relations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: THURSDAY, MAY 20, 1999.
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., May 20 - Christopher R. Gidez has been named General Manager of Public Relations, effective June 1, Kjestine M. Anderson, Corporate Secretary and Vice President - Corporate Communications announced today. Gidez is currently Director External Communications. He replaces Willie M. Stanfield, who has been named Vice President Safety within Texaco's Safety, Health & Environment Division.
Gidez's responsibilities in managing the Public Relations Department will include external and internal communications along with communications services and associated administrative functions. He will report to Kjestine Anderson.
Commenting on the appointment, Anderson said, "Chris Gidez's experience in developing and executing strategic communications programs, along with his depth of knowledge of the company's strategies and operations, will enable him to make a valuable contribution to strengthening Texaco's image and reputation."
Gidez received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and political science in 1982 from American University in Washington, D.C. After serving as a press secretary for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Gidez worked for several public affairs firms in Washington, D.C. developing and executing public and government relations programs for various clients, including Fortune 500 companies and industry trade groups.
Gidez joined Texaco in 1990 as Senior Coordinator in the Public Relations Department, providing communications support to the company's Alternate Energy and Resources Department. In 1994 Gidez was appointed Assistant to Management in the office of the Vice President in charge of the Alternate Energy and Resources Department. In 1996 he returned to the Public Relations Department as Manager of Media Relations, and in 1997 was named to his current position.
Gidez will remain at Texaco's corporate center in White Plains, N.Y.
