DAVID GOODNER APPOINTED MANAGING DIRECTOR OF Texaco's OPERATIONS IN KAZAKHSTAN

HOUSTON, July 10 - David Goodner has been appointed Managing Director of Texaco's operations in Kazakhstan, effective July 1, it was announced today by Robert A. Solberg, Texaco's President of Commercial Development.
Goodner will be located in Texaco's office in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and will be responsible for coordinating the company's exploration and production interests, including Texaco's participation in the North Buzachi and Karachaganak Projects, and overseeing the company's gasoline retail activities in Almaty and Astana. In addition to these responsibilities, Goodner will assist in advancing Texaco's other upstream business interests in the Caspian Region through the development of relationships and contacts within the oil and government sectors in the region.
"David's familiarity with the oil and gas industry in Kazakhstan and his understanding of the region's complex political and economic environment give him a unique insight into events affecting our industry," said Solberg. "His background in Kazakhstan and his previous experience in the energy sector make him an ideal candidate for this position."
Goodner began his career with Mobil Oil Corporation in 1974 and most recently served as Vice President, Mobil Oil Kazakhstan Inc.
He received a bachelor of science degree in geology in 1968 from University of Wisconsin and a masters degree in geology from the University of Minnesota in 1974.
Goodner succeeds Ed Verona, who is relocating to Texaco's office in Washington, D.C.
