Texaco Press Release - Dr. John Lynn Appointed Managing Director, Texaco Ireland
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 2000
LONDON, England, March 3 - Dr. John Lynn has been named Managing Director, Texaco Ireland, effective May 1, it was announced today by Roger L. Ebert, Vice President, Texaco International Marketing and Manufacturing (TIMM), UK and Ireland Region. Lynn will replace Martin Finnegan who has been appointed Vice President, TIMM Benelux and West Africa Regions.
In his new position, Lynn, currently Director and General Manager, Retail Sales, will be responsible for further developing the company's strong presence in Ireland through its retail, commercial and aviation businesses. He will report to James Hawn who, effective May 1, will succeed Roger Ebert who has been named President and CEO of Motiva Enterprises LLC, the U.S. refining and marketing joint venture company between Texaco Inc., Shell Oil Company and Saudi Aramco.
Commenting on the announcement, Ebert said: "John has demonstrated outstanding management skills and business insight throughout his Texaco career. These skills will be invaluable as we continue to build on Texaco's strong presence in Ireland."
Lynn joined Texaco in 1987 as a Sales Representative in the Lubricants Department after gaining a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of London - he later earned a Ph.D. in chemistry from the same university in 1989. He went on to hold sales and marketing posts of increasing responsibility before being appointed Assistant to the Managing Director, Marketing and Manufacturing in 1995 and Manager, Commercial Sales in 1996. He was appointed to his current position in 1998 and was elected to Texaco Ltd.'s Board of Directors in the same year.
