Texaco Press Release - Eugene G. Celentano Named President, Texaco International Marketing
FOR RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1997.
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Dec. 3 - Texaco announced today the appointment of Eugene G. Celentano as President, Texaco International Marketing and Manufacturing, effective January 1, 1998.
"Gene has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities as head of Texaco International Marketing in identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for growth, while at the same time coping with the very challenging conditions that prevail in many of our markets," said Peter I. Bijur, Texaco Inc. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We have every confidence that in his new role he will build competitive advantages in the international downstream for Texaco by promoting manufacturing efficiencies, innovative applications of technology, and strong support for the Texaco brand."
Reporting to Celentano will be Wayne Clark, Vice President of International Manufacturing, who will continue to oversee Texaco's international refining and manufacturing operations.
Celentano joined Texaco in 1963 as an accountant in the Comptroller's Department. From 1964 to 1970, he held supervisory accounting positions with Texaco companies in Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador. Subsequently, he held supervisory international accounting positions with Texaco Inc. in New York and Coral Gables, Florida. He was named Assistant Comptroller in 1979, then Associate Comptroller in 1987, both at the company's offices in Harrison, N.Y.
In 1991, Celentano was named Comptroller-Texaco USA, based in Houston, and in 1993, he was appointed President of Texaco Brasil SA. Later that year, he was named Regional Director of Texaco's Southern Cone Region in Latin America. Celentano was named President of Texaco Latin America/West Africa in 1994. In 1995, he was elected a Vice President of Texaco Inc., and in 1997, was named President, Texaco International Marketing.
