Texaco Press Release - Gregory M. Vesey Appointed Vice President, E-business
FOR RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 1999.
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Oct. 20 - Texaco announced today that Gregory M. Vesey has been appointed Vice President - Electronic Business. In this newly established position, Vesey will provide oversight and coordination for the development and execution of strategic electronic business activities throughout Texaco, including e-commerce, supply chain management and knowledge management. Vesey's appointment is effective November 1. He currently serves as Assistant to the Chairman of Texaco Inc.
Commenting on the announcement, Texaco Chairman and CEO Peter I. Bijur said, "E-Business is transforming traditional business operations and creating new opportunities. Capturing process efficiencies, enhancing customer service and, most importantly, generating new revenue streams through innovative E-Business activities are top priorities for Texaco. Every business unit throughout the company will be involved in some aspect of E-Business."
Vesey will report to Texaco Vice President and Chief Technology Officer James R. Metzger, who stated, "Greg's broad understanding of the company's businesses and proven leadership skills will be of great value in the successful implementation of Texaco's E-Business strategies. His focus on results will help the company accelerate this important initiative."
Vesey was graduated from Northwestern State University in 1980 with a bachelor of science degree in business/finance and earned a Certified Public Accountant certificate in Texas in 1991. He joined Getty in 1980 as an accountant and became an employee of the Texaco Comptroller's Department in Houston in 1984 when Texaco acquired Getty Oil Company. Vesey was named Assistant Accounting Manager in the Comptroller's Department, U.S. Producing Accounting in 1989 and appointed Assistant to the Vice President and Comptroller in White Plains in 1992. He was promoted to Manager - Corporate Systems and Planning in 1994 and named Director - Business Systems Management within the Comptroller's Department in 1996. Vesey was appointed to his current position in 1999.
Vesey will continue to be located at the Corporate Center in White Plains.
