Texaco Press Release - James F. Link Elected Vice President of Texaco Inc.
FOR RELEASE: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 1999.
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Sept. 28 - James F. Link has been elected Vice President of Texaco Inc., with oversight responsibility for the Finance and Risk Management Departments, it was announced today by Texaco Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Peter I. Bijur. The appointment is effective Oct. 1, 1999. Link, 54, currently serves as Treasurer of Texaco and will be succeeded by Ira D. Hall.
In making the announcement, Bijur said, "An innovative financial strategy is a key component to Texaco's growth plans. In this new position, Jim Link's financial acumen and managerial skills will play a key role in assisting the executive management team in the refinement and execution of those strategies."
Link was graduated from Memphis State University with a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting in 1966 and a master of business administration degree in 1968.
He joined the Texaco Comptroller's department in New York in 1971. Following a variety of supervisory and accounting assignments, Link was named Assistant Manager of the Financial Reporting Office in 1978. The following year he was appointed Manager of that Office. In 1984, Link was named Assistant to the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer and, two years later, was appointed Director of Corporate Finance.
Link was appointed Assistant Treasurer of Texaco in 1989 and named Senior Assistant Treasurer in 1991. In 1993, he was named Fiscal Director and Comptroller of Texaco U.S.A. in Houston. Link was elected Treasurer of Texaco Inc. in 1995.
