Texaco Press Release - James R. Hawn Named Regional Vice President


LONDON, March 2 - James R. Hawn has been named Regional Vice President of Texaco International Marketing and Manufacturing (TIMM) for the U.K. and Ireland Region, and Managing Director, Marketing and Manufacturing, Texaco Limited, effective May 1, it was announced today by TIMM President Eugene G. Celentano. Hawn will relocate from Texaco's Brussels office to London.

Hawn, 52, currently Vice President of TIMM Benelux and West Africa Regions, will succeed Roger L. Ebert who has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Motiva Enterprises LLC, the U.S. East Coast marketing and manufacturing alliance company between Texaco, Shell and Saudi Aramco.

Commenting on the appointment, Celentano said, "Jim has demonstrated great skill and judgement in his management of the Benelux operation. His outstanding international marketing experience and his proven leadership will be key assets as we build on the company's strong refining and marketing presence in North West Europe."

Hawn joined Texaco as a Sales Trainee in Louisville, Ky., in 1972. He subsequently held a number of marketing positions with increasing responsibility in the Midwestern region. In 1980 Hawn was named Area Manager for Texaco's Petroleum Products Division (Midwestern Region) based in Maryland Heights, MO. He was appointed Area Manager - Resale for Texaco U.S.A.'s Chicago Division the following year, and in 1984 he was named Regional Marketing Manager - Resale in the Tulsa Region.

In 1987 Hawn was named Assistant to Management in the office of the Chairman of Texaco Inc. at the company's offices in White Plains, N.Y. He relocated to Texaco's former Latin America/West Africa Division (LA/WA) in Coral Gables, Fla., in 1989 as Director of Marketing and Planning with responsibility for the launch of the division's Star Field Marketing System. In 1991 he was appointed General Manager of Texaco Eastern Caribbean, based in Bridgetown, Barbados, where he was responsible for operations in 17 countries in the region.

Hawn relocated to Coral Gables again in 1995 as Assistant to the President of the LA/WA Division, and Regional Director for West Africa. In January 1997 he was named Regional Vice President of TIMM's West Africa Region, before being appointed to his current position in August 1997.
