Texaco Press Release - Michele V. Ward Appointed Assistant to Management

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., July 12 - Michele V. Ward has been named Assistant to Management in the office of Texaco Inc. Senior Vice President and President, Global Businesses, Glenn F. Tilton. Ward, who was most recently an Executive Director with responsibility for special projects at Houston-based Motiva Enterprises LLC - a Shell/Texaco/Saudi Aramco alliance company - succeeds Martin B. Southern, who was named Vice-President, Sales & Marketing for Caltex Lubricants during June. Her appointment is effective July 1, 1999.
Commenting on the appointment, Tilton said: "Michele's broad industry knowledge, gained through solid hands-on experience across a wide range of disciplines, will be invaluable to Texaco as we strive to achieve our Global Business strategic objectives. We are looking forward to her joining the team."
Ward joined Shell's Marketing Organization as an Engineer in 1987 after graduating from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. She went on to hold engineering posts of increasing responsibility before being appointed Sales Manager, New England District, for Shell Oil Products Marketing in 1994. In 1996, she was named Diversity Manager, supporting the Marketing Organization, before being assigned to the Diversity Transition Team, formed to work on the formation of the U.S. downstream alliance companies, Motiva Enterprises, Equilon Enterprises and Equiva Services. She was appointed to her most recent position in July 1998.
