Texaco Press Release - Rebecca B. Roberts Named President of Texaco Panama Inc.

FOR RELEASE: THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2000.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Feb. 17 -- Rebecca B. Roberts has been named President of Texaco Panama Inc., effective March 1, it was announced today by J. Carey McHugh, Vice President of Texaco International Marketing and Manufacturing (TIMM).

Roberts, currently Strategic Partner for Global Alignment in the Global Human Resources Department, succeeds Salvador Sanchez J., who has been appointed Director of Public & Government Affairs for the Central America Region of TIMM.

In her new position, Roberts will be responsible for all of Texaco's downstream business activities in Panama, which include the marketing and manufacturing of a full range of Texaco fuels, coolants and lubricants for automotive and industrial customers.

Commenting on the appointment, McHugh said, "Becky's diverse business experience will provide Texaco Panama an additional competitive edge. Her strategic view of Texaco's business will bring a valuable perspective to Texaco operations in Panama."

Roberts graduated from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La., in 1973 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. She joined Texaco the following year as a plant chemist at the company's Henry Gas Processing Plant in Erath, La. In 1981 she transferred to Houston in the Exploration and Production Technology Department, where she held a number of positions of increasing responsibility. In 1990, Roberts was named Quality Manager for the Marketing Division of Texaco's Gas Department and the following year she was appointed Vice President of Neches Gas Distribution Company, a wholly-owned Texaco intrastate gas pipeline company operating in Texas. In 1993 she was named Team Leader for Star Source, a unit of Texaco Natural Gas Inc. (TNG), responsible for long-term gas marketing and became Vice President of Commercial Development for TNG in 1995. She was appointed Assistant to Management in White Plains, N.Y. in 1997 and was named to her current position one year later. In her new assignment, Roberts will relocate from White Plains, N.Y. to Panama City, Panamá.
