Texaco Press Release - Susan M. Cunningham Joins Texaco as Vice President, Exploration
FOR RELEASE: TUESDAY, MARCH 28, 2000.
HOUSTON, Mar. 28 - Susan M. Cunningham has been named Vice President -Exploration, effective April 1, it was announced today by Dr. Bruce S. Appelbaum, Vice President of Texaco Inc. and President of Exploration and New Ventures. Cunningham joins Texaco from Statoil where she served as Exploration Manager with responsibility for all exploration activities in West Africa.
In making the announcement, Appelbaum said, "Texaco's exploration activities will benefit greatly from Susan's extensive experience. Her demonstrated leadership abilities, coupled with Texaco's promising exploration acreage, will further enhance our success in this essential element of our upstream strategy."
Cunningham, 44, was graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, in 1979 with a bachelor of arts degree in geology. In 1980 she began her career with Amoco Canada as an exploration geologist working in the Alberta Basin. She subsequently held a number of upstream positions of increasing responsibility with Amoco in Houston and Copenhagen, Denmark, where she successfully led exploration efforts in diverse areas that included Africa, the Middle East and the deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
In 1997 Cunningham joined Statoil as Exploration Manager in the company's Houston offices, and was promoted to Vice President - U.S. Exploration in 1998. She was promoted to her most recent position of Exploration Manager in Stavanger, Norway, in 1999. Cunningham will be based in Texaco's Bellaire, Texas, office.
