Texaco Press Release - Willie M. Stanfield Named General Manager of Public Relations
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, 1998.
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., July 29 - Willie M. Stanfield has been named General Manager of Public Relations, effective August 1, Kjestine M. Anderson, Corporate Secretary and Vice President - Corporate Communications announced today. Stanfield is currently Assistant to the Chairman of Texaco Inc., with responsibility for corporate-wide minority business plans and liaison with key national civil rights organizations.
Commenting on the appointment, Anderson said, "Willie Stanfield has done an outstanding job in spearheading our company's diversity activities over the last two years. This perspective, coupled with his understanding and breadth of experience in working with the media and handling external affairs issues, will be a valuable asset as he leads the corporate public relations team."
Stanfield's responsibilities in managing the Public Relations Department will include external and internal communications, communications services, corporate contributions and community relations, and other associated administrative functions. He will report to Kjestine Anderson.
Stanfield began his career with Texaco in 1965 at the company's executive offices in New York and was appointed a Sales Representative in 1970 in New York City. He was subsequently promoted to positions of increasing responsibility both on the East Coast and in Houston. In 1994 he was named Assistant to the President of Texaco USA, and in 1996 he was appointed Director of Public and Government Affairs, Eastern USA. Stanfield was graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a bachelor of science degree in transportation and distribution management.
Stanfield will remain in Texaco's corporate offices in Harrison, N.Y.
