Unocal appoints Ling, Williamson to board of directors; Imle resigns as vice chairman
El Segundo, Calif., Dec. 9, 1999 -- Unocal Corporation today announced the appointments of Timothy H. Ling and Charles R. Williamson to the company's board of directors effective Jan. 1, 2000.
Ling, 42, is currently Unocal's chief financial officer and executive vice president, North America Energy Operations. Williamson, 51, is executive vice president, International Energy Operations. Ling and Williamson are also currently members of the company's management committee.
As announced in August, John F. Imle, Jr., has resigned from the board effective Dec 31. Imle, who was vice chairman and director, will continue to serve as a consulting employee of the company.
The changes raise the total size of the board of directors to 10, including three company employees.
"The addition of Tim Ling and Chuck Williamson on the board of directors will provide for greater integration between company operations and our non-employee directors," said Roger C. Beach, Unocal chairman and chief executive officer. "Tim provides the right blend of technical, financial and commercial leadership to maximize the performance of our U.S. oil and gas operations, while Chuck's leadership skills and technical expertise are critical to our future success as we pursue extraordinary growth opportunities in Asia, South America, and West Africa."
Beach also commended Imle for his service to Unocal. "John has had a distinguished 36-year career with Unocal," Beach said. "He has been instrumental in expanding Unocal's global energy resource growth portfolio. John will continue to provide counsel and support to the company as we move forward."
