prioritizing issues for our reporting
Our sustainability reporting focuses on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues that matter to our business and our stakeholders – investors, customers, host governments, local communities and employees. The content for our data performance table and for our 2019 Sustainability Report was identified through prior issue prioritization processes and current year external engagements with stakeholders.

industry-specific reporting
overview
The third edition of the Oil and gas industry guidance on voluntary sustainability reporting, published in 2015, was jointly produced by IPIECA, the global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues, the American Petroleum Institute (API), and the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP). The guidance represents industry consensus on the most prevalent issues and indicators for the oil and gas sector, and Chevron played a role in its development.
The guidance includes indicators and reporting elements to help companies report on priority issues for the sector. Chevron currently reports on all 34 indicators. In the table below, we signal how we believe our reporting meets the intent of the common reporting elements in the indicator descriptions, and we provide relevant links to our reporting on each indicator.
we leverage IPIECA/API/IOGP guidelines for our performance reporting
Our data from 2019 reflect the progress we’ve made in our environmental, health and safety, and social performance. We follow IPIECA/API/IOGP* oil and gas industry guidance on voluntary sustainability reporting
*IPIECA (the global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues)/American Petroleum Institute/International Association of Oil & Gas Producers.
we’ve also taken steps to initially align our performance data with the recommendations of the sustainable accounting standards board (SASB) voluntary framework
