More than 14,000 walkers including nearly 100 Chevron employees and their family members participated in the Skechers’ 10th annual Pier to Pier Friendship walk which supports the Friendship Foundation (an organization that assists children with special needs) and local education foundations included those located in El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Torrance and Palos Verdes. This year’s walk, with the help of Chevron, raised over $2 million in contributions, totaling over $11 million since the walk’s launch.
In addition to the more than 14,000 walkers, numerous entertainment and sport celebrities, including legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, actress and model Brooke Burke and fitness icon Denise Austin were present to support the event. Entertainment was provided by seven-year-old singing sensation Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja, upcoming High School Musical star Joshua Bassett, Nayah Damasen, Dream Crew and Pynk Le’monade. Fans also enjoyed autographs and photographs with characters SpongeBob and Patrick, and young celebrities from shows like Nickelodeon’s Knight Squad, NBC’s This Is Us and CBS’ Young Sheldon.
