one man’s focus on offshore safety translates to energy at home

Sumit Sitiwongse believes that many people in Thailand don’t know where their energy comes from. While he may be right, he is proud to work in an industry that touches the daily lives of his fellow citizens.

Sumit is Chevron’s offshore installation manager of Benchamas Field, our northern-most operations in the Gulf of Thailand. Part of his job involves visiting crews on the field platforms to make sure they’re working safely and understand work procedures. Sumit has been working for Chevron for 30 years,  roughly half the time that Chevron has been operating in Thailand.

Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production’s employee workforce is 99% Thai.

Sumit’s work helps keep people and the environment safe. His success impacts Chevron’s reputation as a desirable employer and reliable supplier to a country where demand for oil and natural gas remains strong.

Chevron is the top oil and natural gas producer in Thailand, meeting approximately 35% of the nation’s natural gas demand. More than half of the electricity in Thailand is generated with natural gas.
