golf clinic is stroke of fun for STEM students

The same skills that golfers use to elevate their game can also put kids on a course to success in the classroom and in life. As local students across Houston learned at Chevron’s Whole in One golf clinic, the art of driving, chipping and putting takes practice—and a bit of science, too.

on the right course

Close to 200 students from two local schools teed up at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston. Along the way, PGA Tour® pros Cole Hammer and Kyle Westmoreland introduced the kids to the fundamentals of the game and presented STEM subjects—like aerodynamics, geometry and physics.

The Whole in One event is hosted by Chevron together with our partners at the Astros Golf Foundation and First Tee–Greater Houston.

  • In 2019, Chevron was named the official STEM Partner of the Houston Open to help the next generation learn about STEM in exciting new ways.
  • In 2022, Chevron was named the new title sponsor of The Chevron Championship through a six-year relationship with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LGPA). The event teed up more than $2 million toward initiatives that empower women and girls in sports, education and the workplace.
  • The 2023 Chevron Championship will take place April 20-23 at The Club at Carlton Woods.
